Rob Vela is a dedicated piano technician, music teacher and lifelong performing musician serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

An eighth-generation resident, Rob has deep roots in San Francisco. His lineage includes historical figures such as Eugene Schmitz, affectionately known as “Handsome Eugene”, the conductor of the San Francisco Orchestra and mayor of San Francisco at the turn of the century, alongside other notable performing musicians.

Rob brings more than a decade of experience teaching all ages and several instruments. His résumé includes building new musicians into performers as a Show Director and House Band Director for the performance-focused School of Rock.

In addition to his musical career, Rob spent fifteen years studying restaurant and hospitality management, including competitive mixology. As a trained sommelier, he developed a refined attention to detail, disciplined listening skills, and a deep appreciation for nuance, qualities that translate naturally into the art and science of piano tuning.

Rob is now fully committed to the artistry of piano technology, focused on bringing the joy of a refined and elegant instrument to homes, studios and performance spaces alike. His steady, musical ear, practical approach and attention to detail make him a trusted generalist for players of every kind.
