A little background on your piano tuner technician

I’m a piano tuner in Northern California. I work with a wide range of clients, from professional musicians and families, to tech billionaires and my mom. 

My ideal client is anyone who wants the best for their piano, whatever that means to them. Whether you spent north of $200k on a Steinway B Spirio or Yamaha DCFX, or took your neighbor's old spinet for free when she moved out of the Bay Area, my goal is to give you the service you deserve. That's really it. 

Every piano is different, and even identical pianos are used differently. Each client is different, and they have different budgets and goals. My Essential Services are a starting point which I tailor to my client’s individual needs. But no matter who you are or what you do, I have steadfast principles that apply to everyone:

• Your story matters to me. Most family pianos have a story, and I respect that. Whether your great aunt was an opera singer and the piano came around the horn before the Panama Canal was built, or you bought a player piano so your winery guests would feel special on their special day, I'll embrace and respect your story.
• I present you with options many tuners cannot offer. I own a piano Yamaha dealership, music school, and piano service center. If a new or used piano from my store will save you money in the long run, I'll recommend it, even if I make less than the repairs would've made me. Sometimes a rental pano will do the trick for you, or I'll find your dream piano at one of the over 100 dealers in my network nationwide network of, shall we say, my piano drinking buddies.
• If you decide that a player piano is in your future, I can be your best friend. I know how much joy these instruments bring to people, but I also know how frustrating it can be to navigate the systems, music libraries, and maintenance. • Rebuilding is a passion of mine. I will never steer you away from rebuilding your piano if that's what you want, or if that makes the most sense for you. Sure, buying a new piano is a quicker, but the two cannot be compared. It's as individual a choice as any, and I'll lay it out for you. I am your consultant, and strive to provide unbiased advice.

My father opened the SF School of Piano Tuning and SF Piano in the late 1970s. This is where I learned to tune, and I taught tuning and repair at his school for 10 years. I moved to Chico, CA in 2007, but as a recent empty nester, I split my days and nights between San Francisco and Chico, among other places. 

While I wear many hats in my business, I'm happiest working on pianos. Call it an addiction, or an affliction, but I've had this bug since 1982, and apparently there is no cure.
